New horizons for healthcare on the banks of the Padma, NCD project launched
  Date : 20-07-2025

kamrul Hasan: A new chapter in healthcare has begun in the remote Harirampur on the banks of the Padma in Manikganj. The Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) program has been launched under the initiative of Debonair Group. Thousands of people in the upazila will receive free healthcare under this two-year project.

On Friday, around 12 noon, Debonair Group Managing Director Md. Ayub Khan formally inaugurated the NCD project in Dhulsura village.

Immediately after the inauguration of the NCD project, specialist doctors of the Ark Foundation provided free medicines and medical services to thousands of patients in the upazila.

NCD Project Manager Dr. Jannatul Naeem said, Non-Communicable Disease or NCD refers to diseases that are not transmitted from one person to another. Such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, asthma, kidney problems, high blood pressure, etc. These diseases usually develop slowly and require long-term treatment. With the help of Debonair Group, an NCD program has been launched in Dholsura Union of Harirampur Upazila. As part of the project, health workers will go door-to-door and conduct surveys and the sick will be provided with completely free treatment.

Local resident Shamima Begum said, "We, the people of the Padma banks, have been neglected for years. The people here live with great difficulty, and healthcare was like a dream. The government hospital is far from our village, and even if we go there, we do not get the desired treatment. It is very crowded, takes time, and costs a lot."

A person named Abdur Rahim said, "The initiative taken by Debonair Group is really commendable. The NCD project they have launched for not just one day, but for two years has been a blessing in our lives. Now it seems that at least we do not have to worry so much about health anymore."

Debonair Group Managing Director Muhammad Ayub Khan said, "The people of this char area on the banks of the Padma have been neglected in terms of healthcare for a long time. We have seen this issue deeply. We believe that it is our social responsibility to stand by the people of remote and inaccessible areas of the country. It is out of this responsibility that Debonair Group has launched a two-year non-communicable disease (NCD) project in Dholsura, Harirampur Upazila and its surrounding areas.

He further said that under this program, we will provide free medical services, medicines and regular follow-up to thousands of people suffering from various non-communicable diseases including heart disease, diabetes, cancer, asthma. Our goal is that through this project, people will not only be treated, but also become aware of their health and their quality of life will improve."
