Sylhet Correspondent: There are allegations of attacks and ransacking at the Sylhet house of an expatriate in the United Kingdom. It is alleged, the leaders and activists of BNP and Chhatradal were involved in the incidents on Saturday (July-19).
According to sources, some 10 to 12 people riding on four motorbikes suddenly entered into Number 33 house of Block B at the ground floor of Shahjalal Upashahar area under Shah Paran Police Station under Sylhet Metropolitan Police around 2-00 PM.
According to information, the leaders and activists of BNP and its front organizations went to search Borkot Ullah, former Organizing Secretary of Ward-22 Awami League under Sylhet City Corporation, at his house. Failing to find him in the house, the attackers ransacked various furniture of the house and went away by looting various goods including cash money. A tense situation has been prevailing at the Upashahar area following the incident.
It is alleged, by not getting Borkot Ullah at the house, the attackers threatened him and went away. The rural home of Borkot Ullah is at the village Bohor Gram under Golapgonj Upazila. They have been staying at the Upashahar area for a long time.
Md. Abdullah, brother of Awami League leader Borkot Ullah informed, one case was filed against his brother earlier. After wards, police frequently raided his house. My brother was the victim of revenge for his involvement with the politics of Awami League. He further informed, incidents of attacks at their house and on Borkot Ullah also occurred earlier.
While trying to contact over the mobile phone of the Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Monir Hossain of Shah Paran Police Station for comment, he did not receive the phone.
