Jamaat-e-Islami condemns Govt`s hypocrisy on Women`s Rights
  Date : 13-03-2026

MM Rahmatullah: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has strongly condemned the government`s alleged hypocrisy on women`s rights, saying that while it claims to empower women through Family Cards, its party cadres are involved in brutal attacks on women.

Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud, MP, Member of the Central Executive Council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Secretary of Dhaka City South made the statement at a program in Dhaka, where he criticized the government`s inaction against its party members involved in terrorism and extortion. He said that the government`s violence against women and children has increased after the election, with cases of rape and murder going unpunished.

Dr Masud urged the government to take immediate action against those responsible for violence against women and to remove President Shahabuddin Chuppu, who he accused of supporting the Awami League`s violent crackdown on protesters in July 2024.

The Jamaat-e-Islami leader also demanded the implementation of the July Charter and the election of a new president. The event was presided over by Akhtar-ul-Alam Sohel, Aameer of Hazaribagh South Thana while attended by various party leaders and activists.
