Pakistan High Commissioner visits Sir Salimullah Muslim Orphanage |

Diplomatic Correspondent: His Excellency Imran Haider, the High Commissioner of Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka, along with senior officials including Press Counsellor Mr. Fasih Ullah and Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Mohammad Wasif, visited the Sir Salimullah Muslim Orphanage on Saturday on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi. During the visit, the High Commissioner and other senior officials shared the joy of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi with the orphans by distributing sports equipment and various gifts among them. They also arranged a feast and had lunch together with the children. In addition to distributing gifts to around one hundred orphans, the officials engaged in conversations with the children, inquiring about their education, technical training, and other aspects of their well-being. It is worth mentioning that Salimullah Orphanage also known as Sir Salimullah Muslim Orphanage is a historic orphanage in Bangladesh founded by and named after Nawab Bahadur Sir Khwaja Salimullah. Salimullah Orphanage was established in 1907 as Islamia Orphanage by the Nawab of Dhaka, Nawab Sir Salimullah Bahadur. It was originally located near Ahsan Manzil in a rented building. The governor of Bengal, Thomas Gibson-Carmichael, 1st Baron Carmichael, visiting the orphanage in 1913, donated one thousand rupees and land near Gore Shaheed Mosque of Amlapara. After the death of Sir Salimullah, the orphanage became known as Salimullah Orphanage. The government of Bangladesh nationalized the orphanage on 2 January 2008. Senior govt officials, and responsible person of Sir Salimullah Muslim Orphanage were presented with His Excellency Imran Haider at the moment.
