Desk Report: Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) celebrated Spring and Valentine’s Day with a colorful and festive arrangement.
The event titled “Boshonto Dine Bhalobashar Gaan” was held at the DRU garden on Saturday.
The program was inaugurated by DRU General Secretary Maynul Hasan Sohel. In his opening remarks, he said, “Today, we have gathered to welcome the king of seasons, Spring. After the dryness and silence of winter, nature has now adorned itself with new colors and new life.” He added that, like every year, DRU organized this event to refresh and uplift the minds of its members.
He further said, “Spring means nature’s new adornment. Similarly, after a long time, a new government is being formed in the country through elections. Like nature, we journalists also start anew—with new dreams and new determination.” Maynul Hasan Sohel expressed hope for more attractive cultural events with members’ participation in the future.
In his closing remarks, DRU President Abu Saleh Akon said, “This moment of nature’s revival reminds us that change is the eternal truth of life. Just as new leaves appear on trees after winter’s lifelessness, new possibilities emerge in society after overcoming adversity.” He added, “We work for people’s rights and to strengthen democracy by standing for truth and justice. Spring teaches us courage, honesty, and hope, which inspires us in our professional duties.”
DRU’s Cultural Secretary Md. Monowar Hossain conducted the event; while Finance Secretary Niaz Mahmud Sohel, Organizing Secretary MM Jashim, Publicity and Publication Secretary Mizan Chowdhury, Sports Secretary Omar Faruk Rubel, Hospitality Secretary Aminul Islam Bhuiyan, and Executive Members Ali Azam, Mahfuz Sadi, Al-Amin Azad, Suman Chowdhury, and Md. Mazharul Islam were attended.
