PM urges police to treat criminals as individuals
  Date : 11-05-2026

Prime Minister (PM) Tarique Rahman has called on law enforcement authorities to judge criminals based on their actions, rather than their political affiliations.

``Consider acts of corruption and terrorism as crimes committed by individuals, not through the lens of political identity.``

He made these remarks on Monday afternoon while delivering a directive speech to senior police officials at his office during Police Week.

The Prime Minister described the police force as `the mirror of the government.`

He stated that the government wants to transform the police into a truly people-friendly force.

``In a democratic system, no government is permanent and no administrative position remains reserved for anyone forever. History has repeatedly demonstrated this reality, both in Bangladesh and around the world. Likewise, no position within the public administration or police administration is permanent for any individual.``

The Prime Minister further said that if law enforcement agencies make sincere and effective efforts, the country will move one step closer to building a prosperous, self-reliant, secure, and humane Bangladesh.
