International : The Shanghai Institute of International Studies (SIIS) has donated a collection of important books to the Chinese Literature Readers Club in Bangladesh and the University of Dhaka to further promote educational, research and intellectual exchanges between Bangladesh and China.

At the same time, the official unveiling ceremony was held for the Bangla-English bilingual edition of Keywords of Understanding the Common Development of Asia, published by the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies.

The handover of the book collection and its unveiling took place on Monday on the sidelines of the Second China-Bangladesh Roundtable Meeting on “Exchange of Governance Experiences,” held at a hotel in the capital. The book was published by the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies.

At the event, SIIS Vice President Li Kaisheng formally handed over the special collection of books to representatives of the Chinese Literature Readers Club in Bangladesh, Zhang Qingbin, Deputy Secretary-General of the Apon Friendship Exchange Center, and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka.

During the event, emphasis was placed on institutional partnerships between the two countries in research and education, as well as on the importance of long-term dialogue. The Chinese Literature Readers Club in Bangladesh and Zhang Qingbin, Deputy Secretary-General of the Apon Friendship Exchange Center, along with others concerned, were also thanked for their special role in successfully implementing the initiative in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh’s Education Minister A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon attended the event as the chief guest, along with Li Shaofeng, Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy, and others.

Speakers at the event said translation is not merely a means of changing one language into another; rather, it creates opportunities to extend ideas and intellectual traditions across borders through broader dialogue. They said the bilingual edition of Keywords of Understanding the Common Development of Asia would serve as a strong cultural bridge for the exchange of knowledge and mutual respect between Bangladesh and China.

It was also hoped that the book would inspire new ideas among Bangladeshi students, researchers and policymakers on the common development of Asia.
