Chief Adviser’s Press Wing has reassured public that there is no shortage of blood for treating burn victims from the recent Uttara plane crash, and urged citizens not to panic or spread misinformation.

In an official statement issued Wednesday, the Press Wing said that a comprehensive list of voluntary blood donors; covering all blood groups, has been prepared, including names, blood types and contact details. Blood will be collected only when clinically necessary, under the supervision of medical specialists.

“As burn patients are primarily treated with Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP) rather than stored whole blood, there is no need for advance stockpiling,” the statement read. “When needed, registered volunteers will be contacted directly.”

Officials emphasized that there is no shortage of any blood group, nor is there any indication such a shortage will arise. The public has been urged to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified calls for blood donation, which may lead to unnecessary panic.

The clarification comes amid a wave of social media posts calling for urgent blood donations, which officials say are not based on verified medical needs.

The Press Wing reiterated that the government is fully prepared to meet the medical demands of all victims, with blood management and plasma transfusion efforts being closely coordinated with healthcare professionals and registered volunteers.
