BAJAPA Condemns Sexual Violence and Rape in Dhamrai, Demands Immediate Justice

Press Release: The Bangladesh Justice Party expresses its strongest condemnation and deep concern over a brutal incident of rape and violence against a woman reported in Dhamrai, Dhaka. According to available information, a Muslim couple was subjected to grave deception, following which the wife became a victim of gang rape, sexual violence, physical abuse, and robbery. This heinous act represents a gross violation of women’s rights, human dignity, morality, and the rule of law.

The Bangladesh Justice Party unequivocally states:
Rape and violence against women are among the gravest crimes against humanity. Such crimes have no religion and no political identity. A criminal is a criminal and must be held fully accountable under the law.
We firmly demand the immediate arrest of all individuals involved in this crime of rape and violence against a woman, and their prosecution under existing laws, including relevant provisions addressing sexual violence and crimes against women, to ensure exemplary punishment. The state must also guarantee full security, medical treatment, psychological support, and legal assistance for the victim and her family.
It is deeply alarming that statements made by certain local representatives and law enforcement officials after the incident have created serious public concern. Claims that “neither the rape victim nor the perpetrators could be located” reflect a disturbing failure of responsibility and raise questions about institutional negligence, which is unacceptable in a country governed by the rule of law.
The Bangladesh Justice Party further emphasizes that:
Crimes of rape and sexual violence must never be communalized, and no religious community should be collectively blamed for the actions of a few criminals.
We respectfully urge responsible leaders of the Hindu community to clearly dissociate themselves from the perpetrators and to stand firmly in support of justice, accountability, and the protection of women’s rights.
At the same time, the Bangladesh Justice Party reiterates its longstanding demand that the death sentence of OC Pradeep, convicted in the murder of Major (Retd.) Sinha Rashed Khan during the previous government, be executed without delay. Justice must never be compromised by political interests, electoral considerations, or external pressure.
The Bangladesh Justice Party firmly believes that:
Women’s rights are human rights. Human rights are universal and indivisible, and they cannot vary based on religion, political affiliation, or identity.
Failure to ensure impartial justice in cases of rape and violence against women will inevitably erode public trust in state institutions and deepen social insecurity.
Accordingly, we urgently call for:
An independent, neutral, and transparent investigation into the rape and violence against the woman
Immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of all perpetrators
Comprehensive protection, medical care, and legal support for the victim and her family
Administrative and legal action against any officials found negligent in their duties
The Bangladesh Justice Party will never compromise on justice, women’s dignity, and the rule of law.
We stand for justice.
