  Dhaka`s air quality `unhealthy`, ranks 3rd globally

Despite being a weekly holiday, Bangladesh`s capital Dhaka ranked third on the global list of cities with the worst air quality on Friday morning.

According to data from Swiss-based air quality monitoring platform IQAir recorded around 9:32 AM, Dhaka posted an Air Quality Index (AQI) score of 179, categorizing its air quality as "unhealthy".

Meanwhile, Singapore topped the global ranking with a "very unhealthy" AQI score of 245.

According to IQAir classification standards, an AQI score between 0 and 50 is considered "good," while 51 to 100 indicates "moderate" air quality. A score between 101 and 150 is deemed "unhealthy for sensitive groups," while 151 to 200 falls into the "unhealthy" range.

Scores ranging from 201 to 300 are classified as "very unhealthy," and any reading exceeding 301 is designated as "hazardous," posing severe health alerts to the entire population.
