Train schedule disrupted due to accident in Gazipur
  Date : 18-05-2024

Online Report : The schedule of trains from Kamalapur Railway Station to the western region of the country has been disrupted due to the accident in Gazipur`s Joydebpur area on Friday.

As a result, the commuters have fallen into huge suffering.

The railway authorities said the trains are leaving the station with a four to five-hour delay as the trains from both directions have to pass the area through one line. It will take at least two days to normalise the situation.

Masud Sarwar, station manager of Kamalapur Railway Station, said all trains bound to the western region and Mymensingh are leaving the station with delay.

Most of the trains towards the area will go under the situation (delay) which will take at least two more days to be normal, he added.

Meanwhile, a large number of passengers were seen at Kamalapur Railway Station waiting for the trains in the afternoon to their destinations.

A passenger of Rangpur Express, Rumana Akter, said she had been waiting for trains since 8:00 am. The train was scheduled to leave Kamalapur at 9:00 am but she did not get it even around 2:30 pm, creating huge suffering in the heatwave, she added.

Notably, a passenger-carrying train hit a freight train in Kazipara area under Joydebpur police station in Gazipur city around 11:00 am on Friday. Nine compartments of the train derailed and four passengers were injured in the incident.
