BAJUS warns of buying gold online
  Date : 19-05-2024

Jewellers have urged consumers to be aware of purchasing gold from online platforms to avoid becoming a victim of fraud.

“Some online platforms are trying to sell gold, presenting a risk of fraud. Traditional businessmen should prioritise integrity to earn the trust of customers,” said Masudur Rahman, vice-president of the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS).

He was addressing a views-exchange meeting as the chief guest in Patuakhali on Saturday.

BAJUS Executive Member Pabitra Chandra Ghosh was a special guest on the occasion.

View-exchange meetings of the organisation were also held in Bogura, Rangpur, Borguna, Natore and Gaibandha on that day.

Addressing the meetings, BAJUS central leaders stressed uniting the members to drive the jewellery industry’s growth in Bangladesh.

In Bogura, BAJUS Vice-President Joynal Abedin Khokon was chief guest while central committee Assistant Secretary Uttam Ghosh and Executive Member Ali Hossain special guests. BAJUS Bogura Unit President Motlebur Rahman Ratul chaired the session.

Addressing the programme, Joynal Abedin Khokon said BAJUS wants to bring all the jewellery traders of the country under one umbrella. “We are working towards the same goal under the leadership of BAJUS President Sayem Sobhan Anvir to ensure the safety of traders. Honest businessmen will get full support from us,” he said.

In Rangpur, BAJUS Vice-President Shamit Ghosh Apu called upon all members of the trade body to become united to flourish the sector.

“BAJUS is now a brand with a collective effort of over 40,000 members. We will move together to make Bangladesh a gold-export nation,” he said.

BAJUS Assistant Secretary Tazul Islam (Lavlu) and Executive Member Md Salam were also present on the occasion while BAJUS Rangpur Unit President Enamul Haque Sohel chaired the session.
