Lightning strike kills two in Habiganj

Two people were killed, including a woman, by lightning strikes in Bahubal and Chunarughat upazilas in Habiganj during the last 24 hours.

The deceased were identified as Danish Mia, 45, son of Rahim Uddin, resident of Satpariya village of Bahubal upazila and Halema Khatun, 44, wife of Nazrul Islam, resident of Taragao village in Chunarughat upazila of the district.

According to local sources, Danish Mia died on the spot by lightning strikes when he was working on his land this morning. He was a teacher of Chalitatala Madrasa in Bahubal upazila, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bahubal Model Police Station Moshiur Rahman said.

Meanwhile, Halema Khatun died by lightning strike last night, local sources said.
