Kamal Sahriar takes charge of Somoy Multimedia
  Date : 20-10-2024

Youth Award-winning journalist Md Kamal Hossain (Kamal Sahriar) has been made the ‘Multimedia Team Lead’ of Somoy Media Limited (Somoy Television).

Sahriar, who has been serving as the channel’s national desk lead, assumed his new role on Tuesday (October 1).

Kamal Hossain Shahriar started his journalism career with a regional newspaper in Barishal and worked as the district correspondent of a national daily.

He went on to work for vernacular dailies Bhorer Dak, Sangbad and Ittefaq before venturing into digital journalism with Banglanews24 and DhakaTimes24.

He later joined Somoy TV. He was heading the national desk when he left in 2021 for Ekhon TV—both channels owned by City Group. In June last year, he returned to Somoy TV in his previous role after a brief stint at Ekhon.

Kamal Shahriar hosted ‘Adommo Bangladesh’, ‘Tarunner Somoy’, and ‘Samprotik Vabna’ on Somoy TV`s digital platform. He has also worked as a freelance journalist for various international media outlets.

Somoy’s YouTube channel has more than 25 million subscribers, the first to achieve the milestone from Bangladesh. Its Facebook page boasts over 16 million followers.
