The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has reportedly pushed 66 Indian nationals into Bangladesh through three borders of Matiranga and Panchari upazilas in Khagrachhari district.
The matter was confirmed by Nazmun Ara Sultana, acting Deputy Commissioner of Khagrachhari district.
According to the district administration, 15 individuals crossed into Bangladesh through Taindong border of Matiranga, 27 through Shantipur border under Gomti union and 24 through Rupsen Para border under Logang union of Panchari.
Of them, the 27 individuals who entered through Shantipur border were took shelter in a house at Polashpur village. Locals then, informed Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
Later, BGB members arrived and took them to their custody.
According to locals, people who were pushed in are residents of Gujarat state in India and Muslims.
They are reportedly able to speak both Gujarati and Bengali.
No BGB officials have commented on the matter to media.
Khagrachhari acting Deputy Commissioner, Nazmun Ara Sultana, stated that information had been received about 66 individuals illegally crossing into Bangladesh through three borders by 5 PM on Wednesday. No immediate decision has been made on the issue, but humanitarian aid is being provided in form of food and shelter.
