23,659 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims return home

A total of 23,659 Bangladeshi pilgrims have returned home from Saudi Arabia following the completion of this year’s Hajj, which was observed on June 5.

According to the Hajj office, 822 more pilgrims are scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on Sunday (June 15) via four flights—one each by Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Saudia Airlines, and two by Flynas Airlines.

Of the returnees so far, 4,176 pilgrims travelled under government arrangements, while 19,483 returned via private Hajj agencies.

A total of 60 return flights have been operated, including 19 by Biman, 24 by Saudia, and 17 by Flynas.

Meanwhile, 29 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died in Saudi Arabia during the Hajj season—25 men and 4 women. Of the deceased, 18 passed away in Mecca, 9 in Medina, and 1 in Arafat.

No deaths have been reported in Jeddah, Mina, or Muzdalifah.

This year’s Hajj operations began on April 29 with the first outbound flight and concluded on May 31.

Return flights began on June 10 and will continue until July 10.
