Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said on Saturday that if his party assumes power, citizens will not have to take to the streets to get their demands met.
He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion session during the annual council of the Forum of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh, held at the Diploma Engineers Institute at Kakrail in Dhaka.
Shafiqur Rahman said, “Even if we cannot launch a bullet train within five years, an express train of development will be put into operation.”
He added that youths will get jobs according to their qualifications, but past governments have failed to create the necessary environment for this over the last half-century. “Jamaat aims to rebuild Bangladesh with the cooperation of the people,” he said.
He also criticized the education system, saying it has lowered people’s potential, while the children of those responsible for planning education often study abroad, contributing to the system’s poor condition.
Commenting on cultural policies, the Jamaat leader said the Awami League government introduced what he called a “mirror-house” culture in Bangladesh.
