International Desk : At least 50 more Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in the besieged Gaza Strip in a single day, with over a hundred more injured. Among the deceased are also hungry aid seekers.
This brings the total death toll in the besieged enclave to nearly 56,000. Anadolu Agency reported this information in a dispatch on Sunday (June 22).
The news agency states that the Gaza Health Ministry has reported at least 55,959 Palestinians killed since the Israeli attacks began in October 2023.
In a statement released on Sunday, the ministry announced that 51 more bodies were brought to hospitals in the last 24 hours, and 104 new injuries were recorded. In total, the number of injured in the Israeli aggression has risen to 131,242.
The statement also added, "Many bodies are still trapped under rubble or lying on the streets. Rescue workers are unable to reach many areas."
Israel resumed its attacks on Gaza on March 18, resulting in an additional 5,647 deaths and 19,201 injuries so far. This comes despite a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that had taken effect in January, which was subsequently broken by these new attacks.
In November 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity.
Furthermore, a genocide case against Israel concerning its war in Gaza is also ongoing at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
