36-member national committee formed to celebrate Mass Uprising Days

(BSS) - A 36-member national committee has been formed to celebrate the student-people uprising days in July-August.

Chief Adviser Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus will serve as the chairman of the committee, according to a statement issued by the Chief Adviser`s Press Wing today.

Besides, Liberation War Affairs and Disaster Management and Relief Adviser Faruk-e-Azam will act as the vice-chairman of the committee and Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki will serve as the programme coordinator while other advisers of the interim government will act as members.

Other members of the committee are: Vice-Chairman of the National Consensus Commission Professor Ali Riaz, its members Abdul Mueed Chowdhury, Safar Raj Hossain, Badiul Alam Majumder, Justice Emdadul Haque and Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Cabinet Secretary or Principal Secretary, Army Chief, Navy Chief, Air Chief, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Secretary of the Ministry of Finance (Finance Division) and Foreign Secretary.

The 36-day event will be celebrated from July 1 to August 5 to mark the anniversary of the July Uprising.

The programme will begin on July 1 with prayers and supplications in memory of the martyrs at mosques, temples, pagodas, churches, and other religious places of worship.
