Huma Khan calls on Jamaat Ameer

(BSS) – Senior human rights adviser of UN Resident Coordinator`s Office Huma Khan has made courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman at Jammat office at Basundhara here today.

Junior Advisor on Human Rights to the UN Resident Representative Barrister Tazrian Akram accompanied Huma Khan during this time.

At the beginning of the meeting, Huma Khan inquired about the physical condition of the Ameer-e-Jamaat and wished him a full recovery.

Later, both sides exchanged views on the issues of mutual interests in a cordial atmosphere.

Ms Huma Khan expressed her gratitude for the speech given by the Ameer-e-Jamaat at the `July Commemoration Meeting` organized by the UNHRO in the capital on July 29.

During the discussion, they exchanged views openly on existing human rights situation in Bangladesh and overall situation including the trial of cases of enforced disappearance and killing.

When Ms Huma Khan asked about Jamaat-e-Islami`s proposed reform program, the Ameer-e-Jamaat informed her in detail.

Jamaat Ameer presented the UN delegation with a 12-volume English edition of the book published by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in memory of the `July Martyrs`.

Nayeb-e-Ameer of the party Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher, Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair and Barrister Mir Ahmad bin Qasem Arman, among others, were present during the meeting.
