More than a Hundred Autistic Children Participated in a Grand Event Organized by the UK-Based Charity Organization LWB at Sylhet Intellectually Handicapped and Autistic School

A discussion meeting was held on Monday, March 23, at 2:00 PM at Sylhet Intellectually Handicapped and Autistic School in Sheikh Ghat, Sylhet city. Various educational materials were also distributed among the students. With the overall support of the Chairman of the UK-based charity organization LWB, Mrs. Roshonara Miah, more than a hundred autistic children participated in the event.

The event was chaired by LWB Bangladesh President Nehar Begum and was lively moderated by Mahfuz Ahmed Kabir. The event was graced by the presence of eminent organizer and repeatedly Ex councilor elected SCS C, Mr. Sikandar Ali.

The keynote speaker was Mrs. Roshonara Miah, Chairman of the UK charity organization LWB.

Mr. Salam Abdin, a London expatriate community leader and a person dedicated to the welfare of disabled people, delivered a speech as a special guest. Other special guests included eminent social worker Mr. Joynal Abedin, along with Mr. Redwan Ahmed, Ms. Shobha Bhowmik, Mrs. Asma Khanam, Mrs. Archana Rani Dev and others.

Maya Begum, Acting Headmaster of Sylhet Intellectually Disabled and Autistic School in Sheikhghat, Sylhet, delivered the welcome speech at the beginning of the event.

The chief guest, Mr. Sikandar Ali, said that organizing such events helps in the mental development of children. He said, “As a committee member of two schools for mentally disabled children in the city, I always work with these children, and it brings peace to my heart.” He concluded by thanking and congratulating the LWB authorities.

The keynote speaker of the event, Mrs. Roshonara Miah, Chairman of the UK charity LWB and a dedicated supporter of autistic children, became emotional upon seeing the children and embraced them warmly. When asked by the national newspaper Daily Business File, through Sylhet Bureau Chief Bidya Ratna Roy, how she became involved in serving autistic children, Mrs. Roshonara Miah said, “I have noticed that these children are often neglected, and the government has also failed to take proper care of them. That is why I stand by these innocent children.”

She also said in her speech, “I love autistic children very much. That is why I have come all the way from London with my family to visit them. My husband, Mr. Salam Abdin, has inspired me in my work, and he has also joined me in this program from London.”

At the program, young students Choity Bhowmik and Tafhim Hossain Mahim performed dance and music, while young student Bidisha Roy Rai recited poetry.

In her closing speech, the president said, “I have never held the position of president in a program like this before. Today, I am speaking at this great event because of the welfare work of my daughter, Roshonara Miah.” She praised her daughter’s work and sought everyone’s prayers and blessings.

Finally, the event concluded with entertainment for everyone.
