Kamrul Hasan: The Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB) organized a human chain in Manikganj protesting the alleged artificial shortage of edible oil in the market, which has been causing suffering for ordinary consumers.
The program was held on Wednesday (April 8) at 11:00 am in front of the local press club in the town, organized by the Manikganj district unit of CAB.
Speakers at the human chain alleged that a group of unscrupulous traders is creating an artificial crisis by hoarding edible oil and removing it from the market through syndicates. As a result, supply has decreased, prices have surged, and consumers are facing severe hardship.
Among those who addressed the gathering were CAB Manikganj district president Shamsunnabi Tulip, general secretary Md. Asfakur Rahman, publicity secretary Md. Farid Khan, organizing secretary Md. Rafiqul Islam, treasurer Shahin Tarek, and leaders ASM Saifullah and Nazrul Islam, among others.
The speakers demanded that the authorities immediately normalize the supply of edible oil in the market and take strict legal action against dishonest traders involved in hoarding and creating artificial shortages.
Alongside CAB leaders and activists, local conscious citizens also participated in the human chain.
