Pakistan Slams Israeli Aggression in Lebanon, Calls for Immediate Restraint
  Date : 09-04-2026

MT Desk: Pakistan strongly condemned Israeli aggression against Lebanon, citing the loss of innocent lives and widespread destruction of infrastructure, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). “The Israeli actions undermine international efforts to establish peace and stability in the region and constitute a blatant violation of international law and fundamental humanitarian principles,” the statement read.
The Foreign Office called on the international community to take urgent and concrete steps to end the aggression. It also reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the government and people of Lebanon during this difficult time, adding, “Pakistan supports Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its peace and stability”.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan expressed deep concern over ceasefire violations in Lebanon and stressed the urgent need for full respect and implementation of the ceasefire to ensure lasting peace and stability during a telephone conversation. The DPM/FM appreciated Saudi Arabia’s continued support for Pakistan’s efforts to achieve lasting peace. They agreed to remain in close contact.
On Wednesday, Iran sounded the alarm over violations of its temporary ceasefire with the United States after Israeli attacks on Lebanon and halted the flow of oil in the Strait of Hormuz. Within hours of the ceasefire agreement brokered by Pakistan, Iran`s Revolutionary Guards said Tehran was preparing a heavy retaliation against the Israeli regime in response to Israel’s violation of the ceasefire in Lebanon.
The warning followed reports by Al Jazeera, citing Lebanon’s Health Ministry that at least 89 people were killed and more than 700 wounded in Israeli strikes across the country earlier in the day. Israel carried out its heaviest strikes on Lebanon since the conflict with Hezbollah broke out last month, even as the Iran-aligned group paused attacks on northern Israel and Israeli troops in Lebanon under the two-week US-Iran ceasefire.
