Sylhet DC Sarwar Alam withdrawn
  Date : 21-06-2026

The government has withdrawn Sylhet Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Md Sarwar Alam from his current post and attached him to the Ministry of Public Administration as a Deputy Secretary.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard, signed by its Senior Assistant Secretary Jeti Pru.

The notification, however, did not specify any reason for the withdrawal.

A member of the 27th BCS (Administration) cadre, Sarwar Alam gained nationwide recognition during his tenure as a RAB executive magistrate for leading hundreds of anti-adulteration and anti-corruption drives.

Before his posting in Sylhet, he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Secretary in August 2024 after being overlooked for promotion on three occasions.
