Heavy Military Drills in IIOJK Fuel Suspicions Over Amarnath Pretext
  Date : 01-07-2026

Online Desk: Indian army, paramilitary forces and police have launched a series of war-like multi-agency mock drills across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir under the pretext of Amarnath Yatra preparations, raising serious concerns among locals about intensified militarisation and possible false flag operations.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy personally oversaw a comprehensive mock drill at the Pantha Chowk Transit Camp, where various emergency scenarios including fidayeen-style attacks, road traffic accidents, law and order disturbances, mass evacuations and medical emergencies were simulated.

Similar drills were also conducted in Baramulla at the Railway Station Hamray in coordination with multiple paramilitary and police units.

Local residents and political observers view these repeated “war drills” as part of a broader strategy to tighten the military grip on Kashmir ahead of the Yatra beginning July 3. The drills come alongside heavy deployment of over 400 AI-enabled CCTV cameras, drones, sniper teams, and RFID tracking systems along the pilgrimage routes.

Analysts say such large-scale militarisation and continuous mock exercises are less about pilgrim safety and more about creating an atmosphere of fear and normalising heavy military presence in the territory.

Rights groups have expressed concern that these measures are further restricting the movement and daily life of Kashmiris under the garb of Yatra security.
