US military says begins 11th straight night of strikes on Iran
  Date : 22-07-2026

(BSS/AFP) - US Central Command said Tuesday it has begun striking military targets in Iran for the "11th consecutive night," as attacks in the Middle East war intensify.

"The strikes are designed to continue degrading Iran`s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz," CENTCOM said in a post on X, adding strikes began at 2300 GMT.

The strikes concluded Wednesday at 0015 GMT, the US military said in a follow-up post, adding its assets "targeted Iranian military operations centers, maritime capabilities, aircraft hangars, drone storage facilities, and military logistics infrastructure."

CENTCOM said Iran has attacked over 30 commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz within the past three months.

"The unwarranted attacks have endangered hundreds of innocent mariners and undermined freedom of navigation," CENTCOM said in a statement.

The US military said it has facilitated the transit of about 900 vessels through the Strait of Hormuz since early May, allowing the passage of 450 million barrels of crude.
