S. M. Shah Jalal Saiful, Special Correspondent: British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cook paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The meeting was held on Sunday at the Prime Minister’s Office under the Cabinet Division at the Bangladesh Secretariat. During the meeting, they exchanged views on the overall state of Bangladesh-UK bilateral relations and various issues of mutual interest.
The two sides emphasized the importance of further strengthening and diversifying the historic and friendly relations between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom. They also discussed expanding cooperation in various areas, including trade and investment, economic cooperation, education, skills development, migration, and human resource development.
The meeting also covered the continuation of UK support for Bangladesh’s economic development and progress, as well as prospects for further expanding the scope of trade and investment between the two countries in the future.
The Prime Minister and the British High Commissioner expressed optimism about taking Bangladesh-UK relations forward and exploring new areas of cooperation for mutual benefit.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir and relevant officials were also present during the meeting.
