Forced preparations for Hamas-Israel cease-fire : Had Israel been stopped earlier, so many people would not have been killed in Gaza : Analyst Tajul Islam

ABDUL KHALEQUE KHANDKER : Tajul Islam, a contemporary affairs analyst and the chief adviser of The Muslim Times, said that preparations are underway to determine the end date of the cease-fire between Hamas and Israel by January 20. It appears that steps have also been taken to release the hostages.

Analyst Islam said, "This step is right, but by then, Israel has turned Gaza into a mortuary." In the past year and a half, Israel has killed about 47,000 innocent people in Gaza and maimed millions of people, 70% of whom are children.

The heart-breaking cries of the women and children of Gaza have not entered the ear-holes of humanitarian world leaders so far, analyst Tajul said, ‘If the powerful countries of the world, including Saudi Arabia, had played a minimum effective role in stopping this shameless killing of Israel, then Israel would never have had the courage to kill so many children and innocent people.’

Tajul Islam said, human religion is above all. Los Angeles is going up in flames today. It does not matter who is Christian, who is American and who is Muslim. The main thing is to protect people`s life and property. Muslims are calling for the safety of Los Angeles residents.  Praying to Allah. This is normal. Christians also live in Palestine. It is not known that they have ever marched or attracted the attention of the world to protest the killing of so many Muslim children, Mr Islam lamented.

We are now hearing that a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel is being hastily arranged ahead of Mr. Trump`s inauguration. Officials hinted that Israel and Hamas are now in the final stages of a deal.
Qatari and US officials are acting as mediators. In a statement, Hamas said it was satisfied with the current state of negotiations. They hope that this round of talks will lead to a `clear and detailed agreement`.

Tajul Islam further mentioned that today, after so long, the implementation of the ceasefire in Gaza and the agreement on the release of the hostages are being delayed. If this ceasefire was really meant to save the lives of innocent people, then thousands of children and ordinary people`s lives would have been saved for a year and a half and they would not have been killed prematurely.

About 70 children have been killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip in the past few days amid ceasefire talks. It is no kind of discussion! Tajul Islam said regretfully.

The Palestinian children of Gaza have suffered massive losses in the 16-month-long war. "The new year brings more death and suffering for the children of Gaza," said Catherine Russell, the executive director of UNICEF, the United Nations child safety and rights agency, on January 8.

It should be noted that since the unprecedented cross-border attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023, Israel has continued to carry out continuous air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip. Thousands of buildings including hospitals, schools, refugee camps, mosques, churches have been damaged or destroyed in this Israeli attack.

According to Gaza health authorities, more than 46,500 people have been killed in Gaza so far. Most of them are women and children. In addition, millions of Palestinians were injured.
Palestinian health authorities believe more than 10,000 people are still missing under the rubble of destroyed homes across the Gaza Strip. Despite a UN Security Council resolution essentially demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, Israel has continued its brutal assault on the besieged territory.

According to the World Health Organization, including UNICEF, all children who survive Gaza will live the rest of their lives with mental health problems and fear. This is very scary. That`s why they need mental health help.
Thousands of children in the Palestinian enclave of Gaza have been left unaccompanied or separated from their families by the war, and almost all children in the territory need mental health support, UNICEF said.

Before the war began, UNICEF estimated that 500,000 children in Gaza were in need of mental health and psychosocial support. Today almost all children in Gaza need those aids and they number more than 1 million.
