US President Donald Trump said he does not know whether American citizens and noncitizens alike deserve the due process of the law.

During an interview with NBC News, Trump was pressed on whether people in the US are entitled to due process.

"I don`t know. I`m not, I`m not a lawyer. I don`t know," Trump said.

Later in the same interview, Trump also said he does not know if he must uphold the US Constitution.

Trump has insisted that aggressive moves to deport undocumented migrants are necessary, despite drawing widespread criticism. But some of them were deported without a court hearing discussing their case.

One case that made the headlines across the country was that of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Despite the Salvadoran man living in Maryland legally, he was wrongly deported to El Salvador and imprisoned in a notorious prison in the country.

Speaking about the case, Trump claimed Abrego Garcia was part of a gang without providing any evidence.

The US Supreme Court ruled that the country must work to return Abrego Garcia to the US.

Trump also ruled out running for a third term in office despite previously suggesting he could seek reelection, saying that "there are methods" to allow this to happen.

The US constitution clearly states that no person can be elected for more than two terms as US president, with changing the country`s founding legal document requiring a two-thirds majority in both houses and Congress and ratification by at least 38 of the 50 US state legislatures.

"This is not something I`m looking to do," Trump said.
