On the final day of the second round of trade talks held in Washington DC on Friday, Bangladesh and the United States reached agreements on several issues, though some matters remain unresolved.

Both nations have committed to ongoing inter-ministerial discussions to address these, with plans for future talks – either virtual or in-person – to be scheduled soon, according to a statement from the Chief Adviser’s office.

The Bangladesh delegation, led by Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin, included the Commerce Secretary and Additional Secretary, who are set to return to Dhaka today, July 12.

They are prepared to revisit Washington DC if needed.

Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin and National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman expressed optimism about achieving a positive outcome within the set timeframe.

National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman and Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant on ICT and Telecommunications Faiz Ahmed Taiyeb participated virtually from Dhaka, joined by senior government officials and experts.

The three-day discussions were coordinated by the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, DC.
