Kamrul Hasan : Calling for heightened awareness at every level of society to curb the alarming spread of drugs, Rafiquddin Bhuiyan Habu, former successful Organizing Secretary of the Manikganj District BNP and a key member of the party’s current convening committee, has announced a strict “zero tolerance” policy against drugs.

Speaking at a discussion meeting organized by local youth and student groups in Dashra, Manikganj, on Wednesday evening, Habu emphasized the destructive social impact of drugs.

> “Drugs are a societal disease—it does not just ruin an individual, but can destroy a family, a community, and ultimately the entire nation. Our stance in the fight against drugs must be zero tolerance,” he stated firmly.

During his speech, he highlighted the vulnerability of the young generation, calling them the future of Bangladesh, yet presently targeted by the drug menace.

> “To protect our youth, unified action is needed at the political, social, and administrative levels. When BNP returns to power, we will enforce strict laws against drugs while intensifying awareness programs,” Habu added.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from hundreds of leaders and activists from various tiers of the district BNP, as well as members of the Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal. Habu urged party workers to form anti-drug committees in every ward, union, and village, emphasizing that society must recognize life as the most precious asset, not drugs.

The meeting concluded with a symbolic “Oath to Build a Drug-Free Society” ceremony, where hundreds of young participants pledged together:

> “We will say no to drugs and actively support the rehabilitation of those affected by addiction.”

Local political analysts believe that this announcement will inject new momentum into Manikganj’s anti-drug social movement and inspire wider community-driven initiatives across the region.
