Khaleda Zia returns home after 4 months
  Date : 10-05-2025

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has returned to Bangladesh after undergoing treatment in UK for four months.

The air ambulance carrying the former prime minister landed at Dhaka airport at **am. Her daughters-in-law Dr Zubaida Rahman and Syeda Sharmila Rahman are accompanying her.

The BNP chairperson left for Dhaka at 4:10pm London time (9:10pm BST) on Monday (May 5).

Khaleda was taken to London for advanced treatment on Jan 8 this year. She went to her son Tarique’s house on Jan 25 after a 17-day treatment at the London clinic.

The former prime mnister was convicted in a corruption case in 2018 and imprisoned in the Old Dhaka Central Jail. The Awami League regime released her on parole during the pandemic but rejected her party’s bid to send her abroad for treatment.

The BNP chairperson has been suffering from various ailments, including liver cirrhosis, kidney and heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis for a long time.

She was finally released on the president’s order on August 5 last year after a student-led mass uprising toppled the Awami League regime. The court quashed the verdicts in her corruption cases.
