Mild heat wave continues in parts of Bangladesh, rain likely in some regions

A mild heat wave is currently sweeping over Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions as well as several districts including Tangail, Mymensingh, Moulvibazar, Feni, Brahmanbaria, Bagerhat, Jashore, Kushtia, and Chuadanga, according to a 24-hour weather bulletin issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) at 9am today (June 12, 2025).

The heat wave may abate from some areas. The BMD stated that both day and night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged across the country.

The highest temperature recorded yesterday was 37 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi, Ishurdi, Rangpur, and Dimla. Today’s minimum temperature was 24.3 degrees Celsius, recorded at Bandarban.

In terms of rainfall, Kutubdia in Cox`s Bazar saw the highest precipitation in the past 24 hours, receiving 41 mm of rain.

The BMD forecast also includes the likelihood of light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds in a few places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. One or two places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Dhaka divisions may also experience similar weather, with moderately heavy falls expected in some areas.

Sunset in Dhaka today is expected at 6:47 PM, and tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 5:10 AM.
