Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Coordinator (South Region) of the National Citizen Party (NCP), stated that NCP was born by defeating fascism and emerging from national crisis—not through corruption or political favoritism.
Speaking at an NCP-organized rally at the Shahid Minar in Sylhet on Friday (July 25), part of the ‘July March to Build the Nation’ campaign, Hasnat urged people to strengthen the party’s support.
“We promise to hand over power to the people under the leadership of the NCP. Stay united; our struggle is far from over,” he said.
Addressing the Awami League, he criticized a faction within the party that has exploited privileges, engaged in opportunistic activism, and controlled media outlets. “We must remain vigilant against them,” he warned.
He added that while the Awami League cannot regain power in the same way, it will try to sow disorder. “We must stand united to resist them.”
Hasnat Abdullah also criticized those claiming to guard Mujibism who are urging people to abandon their Bengali identity. “We say clearly: extortionists and occupiers, not Bengali, are their forefathers,” he asserted.
