The posting of Superintendents of Police (SPs) and Officers-in-Charge (OCs) will be conducted through a lottery system earlier than originally planned before the announcement of election schedule, Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has announced.
He made the remarks during a press briefing at the ministry on Wednesday, August 6, following a high-level meeting to finalise action plans for law enforcement agencies ahead of the upcoming 13th parliamentary elections.
The lottery-based appointments, introduced to ensure neutrality, transparency, and impartiality in police deployments, are being advanced as part of broader measures to uphold law and order during the electoral period.
Jahangir Alam also disclosed that approximately 8,00,000 personnel from various law enforcement agencies will be deployed across the country for the polls.
He emphasised that all personnel will undergo specialised training to ensure discipline, impartiality, and effective management of crowds and emergencies on election day.
The meeting focused on enhancing coordination among the police, Border Guard Bangladesh, and other security forces to ensure a safe, peaceful, and fair electoral environment for voters, candidates, and election officials.
