Rizwana compares Hasina-era to a ‘prison’
  Date : 12-08-2025

(BSS) – Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan today described the country under Sheikh Hasina’s leadership as a ‘prison’ where citizens were unable to speak freely or think independently.

The adviser made the remarks during a programme titled ‘Reminiscence of July Prisoners’ held at the Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium of Bangla Academy here this afternoon.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

Reflecting on the role of students in the nation’s struggle, Rizwana said, “When students witnessed their friends dying, they took to the streets selflessly.

This willingness to sacrifice their own lives for the country paved the way for our freedom."

Rizwana also criticized the `Ayna Ghar` (mirror house) of Sheikh Hasina’s regime, describing it as symbol of the cruelty faced by citizens during that period.

Akhtar Hossain, Member Secretary of National Citizen Party (NCP), Mujibur Rahman Manju Bhuiyan, Chairman of AB Party, Mia Golam Parwar, Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islam and Nurul Haque Nur, President of Gono Odhikar Parishad also spoke, among others, on the occasion.
