ACC seeks red alert against Sheikh Hasina, son Joy
  Date : 04-09-2025

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has requested a red alert be issued against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy in connection with an ongoing corruption case.

According to officials, the ACC’s investigating officers sent the letter on Thursday (September 4), urging police headquarters to take necessary steps.

The move is linked to a case involving alleged plot allocation fraud under the capital’s development authority, Rajuk.

The ACC letter stated that Hasina and her son had fled abroad. It added that, in the interest of justice, the court has already issued arrest warrants requiring the accused to be located, returned to the country, and brought before the law.

Meanwhile, hearings continued on Thursday in three separate cases concerning allegations of irregularities in Rajuk plot allocations. The accused include the ousted former prime minister, her sister Sheikh Rehana, Rehana’s daughters Tulip Siddiq and Azmira Siddiq Ruponti, as well as others.

The Dhaka Fourth Special Judge’s Court completed the third day of witness testimony in the cases. Earlier, depositions were taken regarding 44 documents seized as evidence.
