A total of 60 candidates submitted nominations for the upcoming Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections, scheduled for October 6.
The nomination process for director positions took place from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday.
Nominations were accepted in three separate categories. In Category 1 (District and Division), 25 candidates came forward, including 3 from Dhaka, 5 from Chattogram, 3 from Khulna, 4 from Rajshahi, 3 from Sylhet, 6 from Rangpur, and 1 from Barishal. Category 2 (Dhaka Clubs) saw 32 candidates submit their nominations. Meanwhile, Category 3, which represents universities and organizations, had 3 nominations, including BCB director Iftekhar Rahman Mithu and former wicketkeeper-batsman Khaled Masud Pilot.
Notable candidates include former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal, who filed under Category 2 from Old D.I.H.S Club, and Aminul Islam Bulbul, who submitted from the Dhaka Division Sports Association. Faruk Ahmed has also filed his nomination, though the Election Commission has yet to announce the complete list of candidates.
According to BCB regulations, the board elections are held in three categories. Ten directors are elected from districts and divisions by councillors, 12 from Dhaka clubs, and one from Category 3 representing universities and organizations. After the election of the 25 directors, the BCB president will be elected by their votes.
