Steps to be taken over politically motivated assault in NY: Touhid
  Date : 28-09-2025

(BSS) – Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain on Saturday said the government has decided to take appropriate action regarding recent politically motivated assault on political leaders here upon their return to Bangladesh from the United States.

"Four advisers and political leaders sat together, and we had a long discussion to this end," he said while responding to a question from a non-resident Bangladeshi at an event titled "NRB Connect Day: Empowering Global Bangladeshis" held at New York Marriott Marquis (1535 Broadway), Manhattan.

Touhid said they discussed what action can be taken and how it will be taken.

Supporters of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reportedly carried out an assault on the political leaders, who were accompanying Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus during his US tour, outside John F Kennedy International Airport on September 22.

Chief Adviser Prof Yunus delivered his speech at the event as the keynote speaker.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP leader Humayun Kabir, Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Syeed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, Jamaat leader Mohammad Nakibur Rahman, National Citizen Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhter Hossen and NCP First Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr Tasnim Jara also joined the function.
