One killed, 3 injured in Gazipur road crash

A man was killed and three of his family members were injured in a road crash in Konabari area of Gazipur Sadar upazila early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Bakul Mia, 35, of Basu Niapara village in Nilphamari district.

According to locals, the incident occurred in front of Baimail Naojor Highway Police Station at around 5:00 AM when an unidentified vehicle hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Tangail highway which caused the three-wheeler’s passenger Bakul to die on the spot and three others as injured.


Later, locals rushed the three injured -- Habiba Begum, 40, Sonali Begum, 24, and Habib, 13 -- to Konabari Popular Hospital and admitted them for treatment.

Konabari Police Station sub-inspector (SI) Papon Hossain confirmed the incident and said that the body has been sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital in Gazipur for an autopsy.

Legal actions are underway, added the OC.
