10-Member commission for DUCSU election

The Dhaka University (DU) has formed a 10-member commission to conduct the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students` Union (DUCSU) election.

Professor Dr Mohammad Jasim Uddin of the Botany Department has been made Chief Returning Officer.

The other returning officers are - Dr A S M Mohiuddin (Soil, Water and Environment), Dr Golam Rabbani (Social Welfare and Research Institute), Dr Kazi Mostak Gausul Haque (Information Science and Library Management), Dr Kazi Maruful Islam (Development Studies), Dr Nasrin Sultana (Institute of Health Economics), Dr Md Shahidul Islam (Banking and Insurance), Dr Tariq Monjur (Bangla), Dr S M Shamim Reza (Mass Communication and Journalism), and Associate Professor Sharmin Kabir (Institute of Education and Research).

The appointments were decided at an emergency syndicate meeting held on Monday (June 16), chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan.

The returning officers, in consultation with the Vice-Chancellor, will lead the next steps and overall conduct of the DUCSU election.

Unlike previous elections where the commission had six members, this year it has been expanded to ten to ensure greater transparency, credibility, and administrative support in the election process.
