MT Desk: Acting on the orders of the New Delhi-installed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Indian police have attached the properties of two more Kashmiri youth in Baramulla district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, 1 Kanal and 10 Marlas of land owned by Abdullah Shah Bukhari, a resident of Lalpora Laridora, and 13 Marlas owned by Ghulam Rasool Chopan were attached in the Takiya Yousuf Shah area of the district.
The properties were seized under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), a law widely criticized for its arbitrary and politically motivated use.
The occupation authorities alleged that the seizures were linked to cases involving pro-freedom activities. A notice has also been issued, prohibiting the sale and transfer of the properties.
Since the illegal abrogation of IIOJK’s special status in August 2019, the BJP-led Indian government has intensified its campaign to deprive Kashmiris of their properties, homes, and lands.
Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti has welcomed the Indian Supreme Court’s stay on demolition of Hazrat Saatpeer Sayed Baba Dargah in Nashik.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mehbooba Mufti said in a post on X said, “The Supreme Court’s stay on the demolition of the Nashik Dargah, a crucial intervention, comes in the wake of the Bombay High Court’s failure to fix a time for hearing the case. This delay created an opening for the local administration to begin demolishing part of the dargah, sparking tensions and clashes in the area.”
The Supreme Court on Friday issued an interim stay on the Nashik civic body’s demolition notice to the dargah and sought a report from the Bombay High Court on non-listing of the shrine’s plea.
Morover, all government and private educational institutions, including schools, colleges and technical educational institutions, in Ramban district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir will remain closed tonday in view of the inclement weather.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Deputy Commissioner of Ramban, in a post on X said: “In view of inclement weather and heavy rain causing flash floods, all government and private schools, colleges and technical education institutions of the district shall remain closed on 21.04.2025. Stay indoors, stay safe!”
Earlier in the day, a cloudburst triggered flash floods near Chenab Bridge in Dharamkund area, leaving three people dead and causing significant damage to several houses.
Around 90 to 100 people trapped in the flooded area were rescued safely by police teams, while relief and assessment efforts are still underway.
