ACC Summons Former APS, NCP Leader, PO of 2 Advisers

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned three individuals for interrogation in connection with allegations of irregularities and commission-based dealings in government procurement and transfers.

Those summoned include Moazzem Hossain, former Assistant Private Secretary (APS) to the Interim Government`s Adviser on Local Government and Sports, Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan; Tuhin Farabi, former Personal Officer (PO) to Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum; and ABM Gazi Salauddin Ahmed Tanvir, former Joint Member Secretary of the National Citizens` Party (NCP).

ACC Director General Akhtar Hossain confirmed the development to the media on Thursday, stating that the summons were issued based on allegations involving procurement anomalies, transfer-related corruption, and questionable commissions linked to the purchase of textbook printing paper.
According to the ACC, Tuhin Farabi and another individual, Mahmudul Hasan, have been asked to appear for questioning on May 20. Gazi Salauddin Ahmed Tanvir is scheduled for May 21, while Moazzem Hossain has been summoned for May 22.

Sources indicate that on April 27, the Youth Rights Council submitted a memorandum to the ACC demanding an investigation into alleged corruption by APSs and POs of several government advisers. The complaint was part of the organisation`s "March to ACC" campaign, during which members marched from the National Press Club to the ACC headquarters.

Additionally, High Court lawyers Advocate Nadim Mahmud and Advocate Muhammad Shafiqul Islam also submitted similar complaints to the anti-graft body.

Earlier, on April 22, Moazzem Hossain resigned from his post following the emergence of corruption allegations. Subsequently, on April 25, Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan formally requested the ACC to investigate the matter.

Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum’s PO, Tuhin Farabi, had also been relieved of his duties after facing similar accusations.

Meanwhile, on April 21, the NCP temporarily suspended Gazi Salauddin Ahmed Tanvir from the party amid allegations of receiving illicit commissions related to the procurement of paper for school textbooks. News : Rtv
