Imran Khan Strongly Criticizes Pakistan`s Army Chief

International Desk : Former Prime Minister and imprisoned political leader Imran Khan has said that Pakistan is currently under "jungle rule." He remarked that Army Chief General Asim Munir should have been given the title of "king" instead of Field Marshal, because in a jungle, there is only one king.

On Friday (May 23), PTI founder Imran Khan wrote on his X account: "Mashallah, General Asim Munir has been made a Field Marshal. Honestly, it would have been better if instead of being named Field Marshal, he had been titled `King.` Because right now, the country is operating under the law of the jungle. And in a jungle, there is only one king."

Imran Khan has been in prison since August 2023 in connection with multiple cases. Reports have emerged suggesting that he reached a settlement with Army Chief Asim Munir. However, Imran has dismissed these claims as baseless. He said there has been no settlement, no negotiations — these are all false and unfounded news.

Nevertheless, the former Prime Minister has called on the army to engage in dialogue with him. He said the country is currently facing external threats, a rise in terrorism, and is in the grip of an economic crisis.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan`s party has alleged that Army Chief Asim Munir is behind his imprisonment. In the 2024 national parliamentary elections, Imran`s party was not allowed to contest using its electoral symbol. General Munir was also blamed in this matter.

According to a report by Dawn, divisions have emerged within PTI over General Asim Munir`s promotion to Field Marshal.

The report suggests that while imprisoned party leader Imran Khan has criticised the government`s decision to promote General Munir, PTI`s interim chairman, Gohar Ali Khan has welcomed the appointment of the new Field Marshal.
