Md. Mizanur Rahman, Chapainawabganj: Two Awami League leaders were attacked while seeking bail in Chapainawabganj. Eggs were thrown at them.
The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon when Awami League leaders Ruhul Amin and Golam Rabbani came to the Fatik District and Sessions Judge Court to seek bail. Later, the police detained them from the court premises.
Ruhul Amin is the vice-president of the district Awami League and former chairman of the district council and Golam Rabbani is the vice-president of the district Awami League.
Court sources and lawyers said that Ruhul Amin and Golam Rabbani received 8 weeks of anticipatory bail from the High Court in the 2015 murder case of Shibir leader Asadullah Tuhin. They appeared before the District Sessions Judge Court on Wednesday and applied for bail. The court has fixed July 28 as the date for hearing the bail application.
Upon hearing the news of the arrival of the two Awami League leaders, Jamaat-Shibir leaders and activists gathered at the court premises. At that time, various slogans were raised on the balcony of the court. While leaving the court, Shibir activists threw eggs at Ruhul Amin and Golam Rabbani. Later, the police detained both of them.
Sadar Police Station OC Matiur Rahman said that the police brought Ruhul Amin and Golam Rabbani for security reasons. No decision has been taken about them yet.

On December 25, 2024, 9 years after the incident, Asadullah Tuhin`s maternal uncle Md. Kabirul Islam filed a murder case. The 2nd and 3rd accused in that case is Golam Rabbani Fatik and Ruhul Amin.
