Shariatpur`s Yusuf is now in the New York Police

It is true that not everyone succeeds despite their efforts, but it is also true that efforts for success have to be constructive and consistent. There is no alternative to developing yourself if you want to get something good in life. It is important to be transparent with yourself about what you are doing and why you are doing it. The clearer your values and goals are, the smoother the path to success becomes. Situations change with time, but those who have foresight leave their mark at every step of the way. And if you can possess some basic qualities, success can be achieved everywhere - at home or abroad.

Abu Yusuf Rana, a son of Shariatpur, is shining the face of Bangladesh in the diaspora. Having overcome the ups and downs of life, today he is a full-fledged police officer in the New York City Police Department. When he performs his duties on the busy streets of New York, it becomes a reflection of not just the scene of an expatriate Bangladeshi, but the confidence of the entire nation.

Born in Kirtinagar village of Chandrapur union in Shariatpur district, Yusuf Rana grew up in Madhya Badda, Dhaka. He is the youngest of five siblings. Since childhood, he had confidence, determination, and a strong desire to do something for the society. Despite financial constraints, this spirit took him thousands of miles away to New York City, where he is today a trusted soldier in maintaining law and order.

In 2014, he moved to the United States for higher education. He enrolled in the New York City College of Technology (University of Technology). In 2021, he completed an important chapter in his educational career by earning a bachelor`s degree in information technology. However, life abroad was not easy for him at all. He had to work hard to pay for his studies and living expenses, including working in a restaurant and driving a taxi.

After overcoming this reality, Yusuf Rana moved forward on the path to fulfilling his dream. In 2018, he joined the New York Police Department as a cadet. The next six years were a tough chapter full of training and practical experience. Finally, in May 2025, he successfully completed the police academy and took the oath as a full-fledged police officer.

At this proud moment, his elder brother Jewel Rana, who is already working in the New York Police Department, was by his side. Now the two brothers are engaged in the security of New Yorkers together. This is an extraordinary pride not only for their family, but also for the entire expatriate Bangladeshi community.

Elder brother Jewel Rana said, this journey is not only a dream come true, it is also a responsibility and honor. Yusuf has always wanted to stand by the people. Today, he is my colleague - this is one of the proudest moments of our lives.

Yusuf Rana has repeatedly highlighted that his love and sense of responsibility for the country remains undiminished even in exile. He said, "I am a child of Bangladesh - I carry it with pride. I want my work to build a bridge of love, trust and compassion between the people of the two countries. This profession is not just a job for me - it is an opportunity to stand by the people.

In addition to his law and order duties, Yusuf is a skilled IT professional. He has successfully combined technical knowledge with public service. Traveling, photography, Java programming and learning new things are his favorite hobbies. He dreams of knowing, seeing and understanding the world with a broad perspective.

Today, Yusuf Rana is an inspiration in the Bangladeshi expatriate community. His life has shown that dreams are not just something to be seen, but can be realized with hard work and dedication. Where thousands of immigrants are searching for a path to a stable life every day, Yusuf Rana`s story has become a brave light, a beacon of hope.
