Leaders of the RSS and the Bharatiya Janata Party, BJP have not issued a direct response to the specific allegations linking their workers to the train assault at the time of filing this report. The BJP has previously stated that it does not support violence against any community and that law and order is a state subject. The RSS has also maintained publicly that it works for social harmony.

The reported surge in attacks has prompted statements from human rights organizations in India and abroad. They are calling for swift police investigations, protection for minorities, and action against hate speech. Several Muslim community leaders in India have urged the government to ensure that nationality checks are conducted by authorities only, and not by mobs.

Analysts note that such incidents tend to spike during periods of heightened political rhetoric around border security and illegal immigration. India shares a 4,096 km border with Bangladesh, and periodic drives to identify undocumented migrants have been conducted in several states.
