Shahid-Khursheed Parishad wins full panel in DUJ elections

Staff Correspondent: Shahid-Khursheed Parishad has won the full panel in the Dhaka Journalist Union (DUJ) Election-2022.

The election was held in a festive atmosphere at the National Press Club premises on Thursday. Two panels Shahid-Khurshid Parishad and Pradhan-Nahid Parishad were the main contests in this election. Apart from this, independent candidates contested for some posts.

1320 out of total 2317 voters voted in the election.

Chief Election Commissioner Kaikobad Milon announced the results at 8:30 PM. In the election, Shahid-Khurshid Parishad president candidate Md. Shahidul Islam of Dainik Sangram won by getting 833 votes. His nearest rival News Sarabela`s Jahangir Alam Pradhan (from Pradhan-Nahid Parishad) got 445 votes. Shahid-Khurshid Parishad`s Khurshid Alam won the post of general secretary by getting 790 votes. His rival Pradhan-Nahid Parishad`s Erfanul Haque Nahid got 493 votes.

Besides, all three of Shahid-Khursheed Parishad have won the post of vice-president. Rafiq Muhammad got 736 votes, Khandkar Hasnat Karim got 727 votes and Rashedul Haque got 681 votes. Rival Pradhan-Nahid Parishad`s Abu Saleh 382, Mohammad Masood 314 and Nirmal Chakraborty got 199 votes. Independent Candidate Dewan Masuda Sultana got 220 votes and MI Farooq Ahmed got 81 votes.

Candidates of Shahid-Khursheed Parishad also won the remaining positions.
