Two motorcycle riders were killed in a road accident on Wednesday night while returning home after attending a funeral in Keshabpur upazila of Jashore district.

The accident occurred around 11:30 PM on the Jashore-Chuknagar road in Altapol Taltala area.

The dead have been identified as John Singh, 55, and Subhash Sarkar, 65, residents of Christian Missionary area in Sahapara, Keshabpur municipality.

According to family members and locals, John Singh’s maternal uncle passed away earlier that day at Ghona village under Tala upazila in Satkhira. John Singh and Subhash Sarkar had traveled there to attend the funeral.

While returning home riding on a motorcycle, a truck struck them in the area, causing them to be thrown off the vehicle and critically injured. Fire service personnel rushed to the scene and transported them to Keshabpur Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctors declared them dead.

Yusuf Ali, a leader of the local fire service unit, said, “We rescued the two injured men from the scene and took to upazila health complex.”
