Wife of notorious criminal `Chhoto Sajjad` arrested in Ctg
  Date : 12-05-2025

Police have arrested the wife of top-listed Chattogram criminal Sajjad Hossain, alias `Chhoto Sajjad,` who is a prime accused in a recent double murder case.

According to police, Chattogram`s Bakalia Police arrested Sharmin Akter Tamanna, 37, on Saturday night around 10:30 PM from Barai Para area of Bahaddarhat under Chandgaon Police Station.

Bakalia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ikhtiar Uddin confirmed the arrest and stated, "Sharmin Akter Tamanna, wife of double murder accused `Chhoto Sajjad,` has been taken into custody. Further details will be shared in due time."

Previously, on March 15, `Chhoto Sajjad` was arrested from Dhaka. After his arrest, a video of his wife Tamanna went viral on social media, in which she was heard making controversial remarks about the justice system. In the video, Tamanna claimed, "We will bring him back with bundles and bundles of cash. Those responsible for this will not be spared."

The video sparked outrage for undermining the country’s legal and security institutions.

Police sources revealed that a group of 13 armed criminals used six motorcycles to carry out the premeditated attack. Their main target was Sarwar Hossain Babla, a known criminal from the Bayezid Bostami area, who narrowly escaped death.

The motive behind the attack was reportedly twofold: to assert dominance among criminal groups in Bayezid and surrounding areas, and to avenge the arrest of Sajjad Hossain.

Following the murder, Firoza Begum, mother of slain victim Bakhtiar Uddin Manik, filed a case on April 1, naming seven individuals including `Chhoto Sajjad` and his wife Tamanna.

The other accused in the case are: Mohammad Hasan, 37, Mobarak Hossain Emon, 22, Khorshed, 45, Raihan, 35, and Borhan 27.
